I was creating smaller hearts for one of my collectors and she commissioned me to make a stand alone, large heart on a plinth. This was something I had never done before and I really enjoyed the process. Once this was finished and I started to show it on my Instagram page, I was then commissioned to create several more. You can see from the other images that I have also made them in porcelain roses too!
Green Heart on White Stone Jesmonite Plinth, Vintage Porcelain Tea Ware 2022 50cm x 50cm
I often have visitors to my studio in Primrose Hill and I was delighted to welcome the Ladies of St Johns Wood and Kensington to the studio recently. We enjoyed some breakfast before I took them on a guided tour. I try to show all areas of my portfolio, from painting to sculpture. While talking to the Ladies I was reminded of a lovely story. My biggest inspiration was the artist John Chamberlain. He was an American sculptor and painter who created pieces of art, mainly from automobile parts.
This artwork was built precariously with the objects balancing in unpredictable ways, reflecting the feeling I get about life. Sometimes, when I am overwhelmed, I question, will everything stay balanced and will it all work out? Will one of the pieces just fall away?
